Pound sign not being entered

When we use the editor and enter a pound sign (£) it disappears ? I have tried using &pound in html and ordinary £ but it seems to get stripped from the text - any ideas what is going wrong. Other signs $, % etc seem to work fine

Any help appreciated

Is there any news on this yet ? my client needs to enter jobs online together with salaries and obviously needs the £ sign. Just to clarify when I type in the editor the £ sign is there, this is then submitted to a database, when retrieved and displayed on the webpage the £ sign is gone ?

Before you save the record into DB, replace "£" with "£".

No - I had already tried that and it doesn't work. I have also tried putting &pound in the html mode and that doesn't work either.

As a work around I have asked the users to type in 'sterling' where they want the £ sign and I do a replace when the item is displayed but I really could do with a better solution

Vicky,

If you replace £ sign with £ before you save the data into DB, the record in your DB should contains this HTML entity. It should work for web pages.
