Does not display space character

Hi,

I am loading a xhtml file into this editor. It does not display the space character that are occurring between span tag. For example:

This<span class="new"> </span>is

Please let us know how to solve this. Also, the style "new" within the <span> is applied till end of the document, irrespective of other classes available in the following tags.
