I have no access to the webserver other than via ftp. Would the webservice work if I just uploaded the directory to the server?

Basically all you need to do is to unzip and upload some files to the web server (BY FTP) and update the database connection string.

Can you be more specific as to what files need uploading?

There an awful lot of files. Surely things like the VS Solution files don't need to be on the webserver?

Is there a guide explaining what should go where?

Viking,

There are three types of files. The simplest way is just uploading all the files under the web folder.

1. The files under bin folder. This include the DLL and license file

2. CuteSoft client files

3. Files of Sample portal project.

Unzip the zip file and create a virtual directory or website pointing it to the 'CuteLiveSupport\Framework 1.x Web' folder (located in the archive).

If you are using .Net Framework 2.0, please point it to the 'CuteLiveSupport\Framework 2.0 Web' folder.

If you only have ftp access then you cannot create a virtual directory. At what level do each of the files need to go to work when you have a website which is a level above this folder?

Virtual directory can not be created with FTP.

This has to do with the other question which was never answered.

Here is the example website structure:

MainLevel

MainLevel\LiveSupport

MainLevel\LiveSupport\CuteSoft_Client

MainLevel\LiveSupport\CuteSoft_Client\CuteChat

The web.config file is in the MainLevel folder, thus the global.asax.cs file has to then go there as well?

How does the structure need to be setup, as the application can obviously not use the global.asax and web.config files in the CuteSoft_Client folder due to the other web.config file at the main level?

Thanks for your reply,uploading everything does work, but what about files like register.aspx.

What is to stop people accessing that page and setting up users?

This appears to be a great produc tbut your documentation is very poor.

You can hide this page from public. Even people can register as users. They only can be set as oparators by admin.
