    Windows only?

Does the AjaxUploader use Windows CommonDialog ActiveX control on client to select multiple files? I think that's the case even with FireFox in Windows. When I tried to use the control in FireFox under Ubuntu Linux - it renderend (and poorly too) a standard file upload control. I would not consider FireFox a downlevel browser - so does it mean the Windows ActiveX is used and the control is not truly cross browser compatable?

    Re: Windows only?

    Hi,

We don't detect the version of windows.

And we haven't tested the Linux.

Maybe the UserAgent of the FireFox is different and that cause that behavior.

    Regards,
    Terry

But you do use Common ActiveX on client to select files?

UPDATE: Just tried browsing from Windows 2003 IE7 machine, and the control does not support muliple file selection. Is it expected behaviour?

    Re: Windows only?

    Trekstuff,

If the client machine supports silverlight,  Ajax Uploader will use silverlight solution.

If the client machine supports flash,  Ajax Uploader will use flash solution.

If the client machine doesn't support flash or silverlight, the select multiple files feature will not be avaialble. However the muliple file upload function will work.

    Demo:

    Uploading multiple files like GMail
Google's GMail has a nice way of allowing you to upload multiple files. Rather than showing you 10 file upload boxes at once, the user attaches a file, you can click a button to add another attachment.
