Allow Anonymous Users?

Hi Adam,

When logged in Cute Chat as a Moderator, you can right click the chat area and choose Admin > Allow Anonymous Users

I have both password and IP restrictions on my chat rooms. Selecting Allow Anonymous Users doesn't appear to do anything, so what is it supposed to do? If it has no purpose, how easy is it to remove Allow Anonymous Users from the menu?

Anonymous has also been spelt incorrectly (just so you know) and is easily corrected in en-us.xml.

Can anyone please answer this?

Preferably I would like to remove Allow Anonymous Users from the Admin menu. How can I do this?

It's very easy.

Please follow the steps below:

1. Open CuteSoft_Client\CuteChat\ChatUI.xml file

2. Remove the following code:

   <HtmlMenuItem Text="$UI_Menu_EnableAnonymous">
    <Scripts>
     <OnUpdate>
      if(GetChannel().AllowAnonymous)
       this.SetText(TEXT("UI_Menu_DisableAnonymous"));
      else
       this.SetText(TEXT("UI_Menu_EnableAnonymous"));
     </OnUpdate>
     <OnClick>
      if(GetChannel().AllowAnonymous)
       AdminPromptSetDisableAnonymous();
      else
       AdminPromptSetEnableAnonymous();
     </OnClick>
    </Scripts>
   </HtmlMenuItem>

Thanks Adam!

I made the necessary changes, however now I get an error message when opening a chat room

Replacing the original file removes the error message and chat loads as normal.

It should work.

Please do that again. Just be carefule when editing that xml file.

Hi Adam,

I am using Dreamweaver 8 to make changes to this XML file. I copied the section you want me to remove and used the "Find and Replace" tool within Dreamweaver. It then highlights the text which comes up lines 539 to 554.

I have deleted the section you have told me to, yet the problem still occurs. I have tried multiple times and Cute Messenger is also affected by the same error message. I have also deleted my browser cache (I'm using IE7), and rebooted my server, yet the problem still happens. If I restore the original file everything works fine again.

Hi Adam,

I experimented removing "$UI_Menu_SetPassword" and I also get the same error message when entering a chat room or using messenger. It seems trying to remove any menu item this problem happens.

I haven't made any other changes to this file, so the problem must be elsewhere. Are you able to re-create the problem your end?

I opened the file you sent me in Dreamweaver, however it looks the same as the file I modified. I presume there is a difference?
