Sorry - I posted this to the root rather than to the issue...

I figured it out.  Their default style for their tabs set a z-index of 99.  I set it to 0 and they didn't show up again.   One suggestion would be for the CuteEdit control to set a high z-index when going to full screen to make it less likely that another vendor's control would show through - just a thought.
