The only problem is, although I can find out the name of the database and security details, the site is shared on a server with other users.

I think your documentation assumes that I can run the tools program on the server hosting sql, or at least have the connection string to hand.  On the provider, in the web.config file, the connection string has "Server=(local)" as the server name, but I am not local to that server, do not have access to a remote desktop session to the server, and only know the IP address of the server that my site is running on.  I also cannot remotely access the sql server using Enterprise Manager so I am guessing they lock down the port used by SQL EM, so I am guessing that the tool you mention above wont work either remotely!
