    Something as simple as this seems to fail:

     
    <html>
    <body bgcolor="#FFCC00" lang=EN-US link=blue vlink=purple>
    xxxxxx
    </body>
    </html>
     
    Paste it in HTML view and see what I mean.  It should be a yellow background with xxxxx.
