It would be helpful is users were switched to 'away' status when they are inactive for a long time.  There is a 'User Timeout' parameter in General Admin but that says it will complete disconnect a user after x seconds.  Perhaps in addition to this timeout a default timeout for 'Away'.  This way, you could switch them to Away status after a couple minutes, and then disconnect them after 5 or 10 min.
