I fix the problem. I feel kind of silly because it is a rookie mistake. The forecolor on the enitre page was being set to white from my style sheet. This was causing the cute editor to appear like the drop downs where blank when in fact they where not. They where just white with white text in them duh! Anyhow the problem was corrected by setting the cute editor forecolor to black and it works like a charm.
