    Dazed and Confused in Virginia

Hello, I have just installed DotNetGallery on my server and I am having a couple of problems. When the default.htm page comes up and I click on the demo tab, I just get a white screen with DotNetGallery Online Demonstration and nothing else. When I click on the album example, I get a DotNet Gallery Album demonstration page with an album with 4 categories to click on. (Animals, nature, babies, birds). Clicking on any of them just gives me a screen without the album, just the DotNet Gallery Album header and no pictures. When I click on the try the demo link I get no pictures either. In other words no matter what I click on all I get is the sample album with the 4 categories but nothing else. Could anyone please help me to become undazed and unconfused? Thank you.

Re: Dazed and Confused in Virginia

Please create a virtual directory in your iis and point it to the dotnetgallery sample folder.

    Then acccess it through http://{your site}/{your application}/demo.aspx.

    Hope it helps.

    keep me posted.

Re: Dazed and Confused in Virginia

Thank you for your reply. I keep forgetting about creating a virtual directory. I am new at ASP.Net. I did what you suggested and I am still having the same problem. I installed the application so that I could run it as a module in DNN. The path I have is" /DotNetNuke/DesktopModules/dotnetgallery/. In the .ascx file the folder path is ~/DesktopModules/dotnetgallery/samplefolder. Does any of that look right? Thanks again.

Re: Dazed and Confused in Virginia

I am still having a problem with getting this application to work. The demo or the album example do not display any pictures. The url is My Photo Gallery. I would love to buy this product if I could get it to work on my site. Thanks.

Re: Dazed and Confused in Virginia

    You are using the dotnetnuke.

    Please check the following intruction:

How to Integrate DotNetGallery with DotNetNuke Portal V 3.x .

    Title

    1. Download DotNetGallery(DotNetgallery.zip) from http://cutesoft.net/Downloads/default.aspx

    2. Download DotNetGallery Wraper for DotNetNuke3 (DotNetNuke3.GalleryWraper.zip) from http://cutesoft.net/Downloads/default.aspx

    3. Unzip the DotNetGallery.zip file

    4. Unzip the DotNetNuke3.GalleryWraper.zip file

    5. dotnetgallery\DotNetGallery_Files folder and all file it contains should be deployed to DNN_FOLDER\DesktopModules\dotnetgallery\.

dotnetgallery\bin folder and all file it contains should be deployed to DNN_FOLDER\.

    6. Open the DesktopModules\dotnetgallery\dotnetgallerymodule.ascx file, specify the image gallery path by modifying the FolderPath property.

    7. DesktopModules\dotnetgallery\dotnetgallerymodule.ascx should be deployed to DNN_FOLDER\DesktopModules\dotnetgallery\.

    8. Add new module definition

    a. Log into your portal using the Host Admin account. From the 'Host' menu, select the 'Module Definitions' menu item.

    b. Fill in Module Name and Description, then click Update.

    c. The form should now be extended allowing you to add definitions.

Enter Gallery as New Definition and click Add Definition to continue.

The form should extend further, so click Add Control to continue.

    d. From Source you should be able to select a control named DesktopModules\dotnetgallery\dotnetgallerymodule.ascx.

Select View as Type, and click Update to add the control.

    f. Now you should be finished, and should be ready to add the DotNetGallery to any tab you want.

    Please note that:

If the Image gallery path is not specified correctly, you will get the following error::

    A critical error has occurred.

The file couldn't be accessed. This may be a security problem.

Re: Dazed and Confused in Virginia

Thanks, I was able to get it to work finally. I got my web.config file set so it reported back errors. It seems I had my /bin folder files in the wrong place. The album is working now. The only problem I have now is figuring out how to get the program to open the images in the size I uploaded when I click on the thumbnail. I uploaded in 1200X900 but it seems the program displays images in 640x480 or something like that. Any idea how to get the full image size to display when you click on the thumbnail or run the slideshow? Thanks.
