Spell-checker custom dictionary

I found a post from 2005 where the custom dictionary is persisted as a cookie with an expiration of 1 year. I did a test and found this to be the case, but am wondering if there are any other options for the custom dictionary? Can it be set to be stored server-side?

If not, is it possible to edit the dictionary files that are stored on the server?

Adam,

That is one of the posts I read before requesting more information. The topic you referred me to talks about the language used by the spell-checker, not whether you can edit the dictionary files or modify where the custome wors are stored.

Can I please get a definitive answer on whether it is possible to change the location of words added to a custom dictionary by an end-user?

Adam,

Again, this is not answering my question. The link you sent is about how a developer or site administrator can add new words to a dictionary; this is clearly not something that end-users of a Web-based application can do.

I am asking if, instead of storing the words an end-user adds to their custom dictionary in a cookie, their custom words can be added to a file on the server or a database.

If the answer is no, then it's no. I'd be allright with that, but I just need to hear it in plain english.
