You must get this question alot...

I've read through a number of posts here but still am unsure as to which license fits my organisation...

We are a small web design company that creates CMS-enabled websites for our clients (both Intranet & Internet). We've got 2 developers that would be developing on their local systems and then publishing their work to 1 central webserver where everyone in the company can view the progress of any given client's site. Once we (and the client of course) are happy with the site, we will then publish it to a live server. Each site is assigned a unique IP address by our hosting provider.

What then is the correct license for us? And why?

    Thanks.

    optik,

First, you can use the software on any machine via http://localhost/ for development purposes. However if the web server is accessed using another hostname (i.e. it is a shared server) then you need to buy a copy for it. This means each of your development servers and test servers must have its own license.

    Domain License
The domain license will not work for you because you have more than one site.
    IP License
The IP license will not work for you because each your site is assigned a unique IP address .
    Small Business License (10 Domains)
This license type may work as long as the number of your sites (included the development servers and test servers) is less than 10
    Developer License
The Developer license will not work for you because you have more than one developer.
    Developer Team License
The Developer Team license may work as long as you have less than 4 developers in your team  install and use the product.
    Enterprise License
    Enterprise License works.

    Hope it helps.

Re: You must get this question alot...

Thanks for the informative response Adam!

    To clarify a bit:

We do use http://localhost/ on our developer machines for individual testing.
Then we put all our individual pieces onto the local test server and access it through it's internal IP address (http://192.168.0.100/clients).
We've got more than 10 clients that have CMS-enabled websites.

From the statements above, I think I can rule out the Small Business License...which leaves me with the Developer Team and Enterprise Licenses...they both seem to cover our usage...but why would we pay $1399 for the Enterprise when the Developer Team covers us for just $799? I really want to make sure that we're buying the right license.

Also, if we purchase the Developer Team License, does that mean that we can integrate the editor into any number of websites that we produce henceforth?

    Thanks for your help.

    That's correct.

Thanks alot Adam! That clears it up significantly.

    Last question for you...

You mentioned about possibly having to purchase a separate license for our test server...according to the usage that I have described in my previous post, do we still require a second license? And if so, which one?

    Thanks.

Re: You must get this question alot...

     You are welcome.

If you own a Developer Team License, you don't need to purchase a separate license for your test server.

Re: You must get this question alot...

How does the Redistribution License apply to the above situation?

    Thanks,

    Tony.
