Hi,

   we're using the Ajax Uploader as silverlight conponent since many year and it works great. 

   Recently, we came across the unavailability of the component but, only for a little bunch of users : instead of poping the Select File Dialog , it looks like the InsertButton just do nothing when clicked. This was observed on IE9 23bit and Firefox according to the users.

   In our end we tried to reproduce it without success. Well, the only way we got the same behaviour was by uninstalling the Microsoft Silverlight component (the component have been verified on the user end and, it is well installed) ! 

   For exemple, this behaviour have been found yesterday (September 20th) during all day. Then suddenly, today, the problem have gone, and the component correctly popped the Select File Dialog for every users who were have the problem! There have been no updates on both side between yesterday and today.

    Did you ever got any problem reports like this ?

    I've found some interesting description of a similar behaviour regarding Microsoft Siverlight automatic update feature : looks like when automatic update feature is on, it may block a Silverlight component form running. It is than recommanded to turn it off.

   Do you know if the Ajax Uploader can be affected by this problem, and could block its execution ?

We have improved the silverlight support on the latest build, I suggest you download the latest build and try again.

I thought the users using the silverlight 5.x, it gets problem with the old version.

Hi - I am interested in knowing the answer to this too. We have two seemingly identical machines accessing the same website - one works perfectly, one machine see the 'Attach Button' but the button is dead / disabled. If you click back then return to the page it is magically enabled, you can then pick a file but that causes an error.

We have tested on a number of different computers and only one Vista computer with IE9 is having the issue.

If it works for you, please download the latest version and try again.

Also, you can try change the document mode to standards.

thanks for the reply... so there is a chance we have got it working. The machine having problems seemed to work with the AjaxUploader when clicking the IE compatibility button (they are using IE9)... so on our webpage we added to the header: 

<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content ="IE=9"/>

So far, this seems to have fixed the problem, we continue to test. It is strange though as it worked on all other IE9 machines. Although the problem one was Vista. Others were Win7. We already had the latest .dll.

I will let you know if the situation changes, but thanks for your help. Assume fixed for now.

Ok... so i am sorry to tell you this problem is ongoing.The computer in my original post still was having sproadic upload issue. The Upload button looked like it was clickable, yet it didnt react when clicked. So we went to your test site again:

We found that in Vista 32 bit with IE9, your upload control worked well when Browser Mode is IE9 and Docment mode is Quirks, but when we switch document mode to IE9, we get the same issue as on our site... the upload button looks clickable, but is not.

On our own site we now have found that setting (in our HTML header)...  <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content ="IE=7"/> works for us, setting it to IE=9 does not work (same behavior as before). The strange thing is that our Win 7 machines with IE9 have not shown this issue before. Do you have any thoughts on this?
