Relative paths!!!!!

I have a problem with relative paths.

Suppose to define a site where a specific URL: http://192.168.1.4/Site/Pages is corresponding to a physical path 'c:\Tex\Site\Pages'.

The structure of the folder Tex is:

Tex

bin

CuteSoft_Client

Site

Pages

img

Now in the folder 'Pages' is stored a page 'index.html' whereas in img folder is stored the file 'foot.img'.

The page 'index.html' is so defined:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//DVB//DTD XHTML DVB-HTML 1.0//EN" "http://www.dvb.org/mhp/dtd/dvbhtml-1-0.dtd">

<title>Regione Veneto</title>
</head>
<body>
<p><img src="img/foot.jpg" /></p>
</body>
</html>

I have tried to edit this page using your editor .i.e. calling the method: editor.LoadFile(path) where path is equal to "C:\Tex\Site\Pages\index.html". Well, the page is rendered without the effect of the image 'foot.img' beucase its relative path is translated erroneusly in 'C:\Tex\img\foot.jpg' instead of 'C:\Tex\Site\Pages\img\foot.jpg' (I know this beucase I debug my httphandler on the server).

Of course if I change the relative path in the corresponding absolute path of the image all is ok. Besides if I call the page using I.E. with the URL: http://192.168.1.4/Site/Pages/index.htm, the page is rendered successfully.

Can you tell me something about this problem ?.

I assume you have a page under C:\tex\ which loads the content of your html.

Because you are using a relative path, <img src="img/foot.jpg" />, the above path will be translated to C:\Tex\img\foot.jpg.

More informations:

C:\txt

<img src="img/foot.jpg" />, the relative path will be translated to C:\Tex\img\foot.jpg.

C:\txt\Site

<img src="img/foot.jpg" />, the relative path will be translated to C:\Tex\Site\img\foot.jpg.

C:\txt\Site\Pages

<img src="img/foot.jpg" />, the relative path will be translated to C:\Tex\Site\Pages\img\foot.jpg.

I should like you read my problem again!

Your third case:

C:\txt\Site\Pages

<img src="img/foot.jpg" />, the relative path will be translated to C:\Tex\Site\Pages\img\foot.jpg.

coincides just with my situation.

But as I explained to you, if I call the page using editor.LoadFile(path) where path is equal to "C:\Tex\Site\Pages\index.html", the page is rendered without the effect of the image 'foot.img' beucase its relative path is translated erroneusly in 'C:\Tex\img\foot.jpg' instead of 'C:\Tex\Site\Pages\img\foot.jpg'

As you can see, the effect is different from what you told me.

Where does you call the page?

Check my examples:

C:\txt

<img src="img/foot.jpg" />, the relative path will be translated to C:\Tex\img\foot.jpg.

C:\txt\Site

<img src="img/foot.jpg" />, the relative path will be translated to C:\Tex\Site\img\foot.jpg.

C:\txt\Site\Pages

<img src="img/foot.jpg" />, the relative path will be translated to C:\Tex\Site\Pages\img\foot.jpg.

Sorry..now I undestand what you say!.

The location is "C:\Tex".

But now reading your preceding answers, must I realize what I want do is not possible?

Pratically I can edit pages only within the same site!!.

Nevertheless your question

is for me obscure beucase it underlines the relative paths are relative rispect to the calling page and not to the called page.

I realize, when I call a page using an explicit path, all the relative paths included in this page must be translated suitely on the basis of the path referred to the called page.

What do you say about this ?

This is not an editor issue.
