    Confusing releases and versions

What's the method CuteSoft is using to release versions for CuteEditor?

Every time I download the zip file, the zip has newer files in it. Mind you this is for the same version.  Currently the download area says the file was added 11/07/2007. The file details page says it was added 11/13/2007 and when I open the zip, some files in the zip have timestamps of the time I downloaded the file as if the zip was created i clicked on the download link. OK... the next older timestamp of some files are between 11/13/2007 and the download time. So that tell sme some files got updated recently.

Also how do I know which version I am using? It seems the same version is being updated regularly. And how do I get notified when a new version is posted? It seems the same version is being updated quitely.

    I need some explanation.

So no comment from Cutesoft? I'll take it then it's an admission from them that what I said is true.

That's not a good method for releasing updates.

    Re: Confusing releases and versions

We struggle to make our software better. We add functionalities, we improve performance, we fix bugs based on developer's feedback and do the improment as fast as web can.

We know there are still many developers prefer using the version number approach. But we think using build numbers would complicate/slow down the update process.

Because many developers are still using asp.net framework 1.1. Once we make the changes, the developers need to update the DLL or client files right away without recompile the whole project. So we don't change the control version number. However we do update the control description and update the change log:

Recently we did update the control without updating the change log. It caused the confusions.

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

We will update the change log as soon as possible.
