I am using VS2003 to generate a small Web application. Everything works fine on my local IIS (.NET framework 1.1). When I upload the site to the public server (running .NET 2.0) I get a server error:

System.Security.VerificationException: Operation could destabilize the runtime.

In the Cute Editor download package, there is a folder Framework 2.0 which contains the DLL and client files for asp.net 2.0 and 3.x.

The problem is that the rest of the application was compiled in Visual Studio 2003 using framework 1.1.

I already tried using Cute Editor framework 2.0, but VS2003 doesn't recognize the CuteEditor.dll for 2.0 as valid.

If you use VS2003, your web server should be on asp.net 1.1.

If you use VS2005, your web server should be on asp.net 2.0.

Well, according to Microsoft :

Microsoft's compatibility goal for .NET Framework 1.1 applications is that they should work smoothly on the .NET Framework 2.0 except for a set of documented changes...

Of course, we know that not everything they say happens to be true, but it is normal for me to expect my 1.1 compiled dll to run under 2.0. Actually, it works locally on my machine when I change IIS to framework 2.0, so maybe there is something else we are missing.

Has anyone looked into it?

As I said, it works under .NET 1.1. When I upload the site to the server I get the error. Could it be a trust level issue?

Please download version 6.1.1 from:

http://cutesoft.net/Downloads/default.aspx

Then copy the 2.0 dll to your server then try again.
