Why do uploaded files have 'nobody' as the owner

I have the pathing set correctly and can upload files.

Problem is the file owner is set to 'nobody' and CHMOD is 755 thus I cannot modify it (filename or CHMOD) via Cute Editor or CuteFTP in anyway or even delete it.

How can I upload files and have the owner set to what I want it to be?

Graham,

Read + Write + Execute = 7
Read + Write = 6
Read + Execute = 5
Read = 4
Write + Execute = 3
Write = 2
Execute = 1

If you want to allow a PHP program to upload files to your server, you need to set the CHMOD to 777 or 666.

Thanbks for the reply, but not only can I not CHMOD the files as I'm not the owner but if I could I don't want to do it for every file someone uploads.

Do I have to get my ISP to CHMOD the files that are already there?

Who do I upload a file whilst setting the owner?

Graham,

This is a general PHP question.

You can ask you ISP help you change the setting and tell him you want to upload files to a folder.

Your ISP will know the correct security setting.

Once it's done, please write a simple php upload page and test this folder.

Read + Write + Execute = 7
Read + Write = 6
Read + Execute = 5
Read = 4
Write + Execute = 3
Write = 2
Execute = 1
