I do use the customization to minimise the tool bar buttons, but it doesn't make to much difference. I use yslow to monitor the speed. although I don't expect the page would be as fast as it without the editor, it does become a major concern. Some of our client are from very rural area which is still using 56k dial up, it takes a very unreasonable long time for the user to load up the editor page.

It' very exciting to know that 7.0 is coming. As a big fan of the cute editor, I sincerely hope the editor can improve a bit more on the speed and compatibility with other browser and .net ajax control tools.
