Editor fails in IE 5.5 - Urgent request for Cutesoft Management contact

May I please have a contact for somebody in the Cutesoft management team?

Preferably I would like to phone somebody.  I have been assisted by Adam, he is very helpful and seems to be the only moderator on this forum.  You claim Cute Editor fro ASP is IE 5.5+ compatable, it is absolutly not.  I do not wish to alter your client side code that is failing, I wish to speak to somebody about it.  My ultimate goal is to work towards getting your tool working in this environment.

I am disapointed three or four very simple questions have not been addressed on this forum.  The fact I was asked if I had an include file path incorrect after explaining page behaviours is a worry.  A page will not render in classic ASP if an include file path is in correct, this is simple stuff.  I do not wish to come accross as a know it all, my applogies if I have.  My request is for direct phone contact with somebody in management in your organization.  We have a big problem that has stopped a major project dead in its tracks as a result of the incompatibiity with your editor in IE 5.5  -  I always new the business system I have built was going onto a network with IE 5.5 in thier SOE. The purchase would not have been made if your website did not say it was compatible.

Here is the page that says its compatible:

I would very much appreciate this post being addressed asap.  We either need to work together to resolve this, which makes your product better and does what it claims to do.

    My email address is:
    matthew.burr[at]framegroup.com.au

    TYIA

BTW : Anybody else out there having this problem.  I am very interested to hear...

Re: Editor fails in IE 5.5 - Urgent request for Cutesoft Management contact

Thankyou for your promt reply.  Where do I get the 'full' version number from?

    The purchase was made August 3rd, 2005 - I should have 4.1 ?????

Here is the email my office manager recieved at time of purchase:
    ----------------------------start email-------------------------------------
     From: Karen <[email protected]>
Date: Wednesday, August 3rd, 2005 1:54 PM EST
    To: [email protected]
Subject: CuteEditor for ASP V4.0 Server License Delivery

    Dear Customer,

Thank you for choosing CuteEditor for ASP. Please download a copy of
CuteEditor for ASP software at XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

    ---------------------------finish email-------------------------------------

Why it says V4.0 in the subject (generated by you guys) I was wondering.  Also why does it say 4 in the link.  This lead me to create the following post:
    http://cutesoft.net/forums/9260/ShowPost.aspx

According to your answer of this post I have version 4.1

Q..How did you tell what version I had?
Q..Where do I get the 'full' version number from within the build I have?

Additionaly my question in the post above still remains a question.  My self and one of our directors wants to converse with your upper level management asap - We have a massive project that has hit a massive brick wall as a result of this incompatability.  You say its been tested on IE 5.5 - did it have SP2 applied.  I think you will agree, if your example are not working in addition to my applications of the editor it does not run in this environment.  I have just finished getting my work pier reviewed and QA'ed as a result of this incompatibility.  We have run the system in win 2k, XP pro, Win 2003 server hitting it with IE 5.5 it does not work.  Please send me a phone number of your management.

I have several other very simple questions on this forum that have not been addressed.  They are very simple for a person who knows your product inside out.  Mate, lets work together and try and reslove this.  I wish to continue to use the tool - it does not run on IE 5.5 (BTW you must install SP 2 on this browser)

Re: Editor fails in IE 5.5 - Urgent request for Cutesoft Management contact

    Adam

I applogize for sounding like a parrot but you refuse to answer my request of a management contact.  I am following our business process under instruction from one of our directors.  If you dont want to give me a contact, please specificly say so?

A response positive or negative is required for me to go thru our process of non conformance.  I went to the live chat room, you were not there.  I am about to go to a meeting to explain why this system is not rolled out.  I am about to look very incapable, not meet a key deliverable and possibly have to formally explain why's , how's and who's

What can I do to assist you guys with this problem?

A couple of days, yes I can work with that.  If its resolved in a couple of days, great.  thank you for your time.

    Adam

    ;;;Sorry for the troubles.
I appreciate your appology and your time very much.  I wish this was satisfactory from the Frame (my company www.framegroup.com.au) directors, they want to speak to your people.

    ;;;We are in Canada.
Please send me your company details, you still have not specificly said no to this question.  Can you answer this in the wat I have requested (on several occasions now)

;;;We prefer resolve the problems using our live support instead of discussing it through phone
Directors do not wish to enter you chat room.   there is no use me going there again.  We both know what the problem is and what needs to be done.  If  get this problem fixed, will you guys pay for the time it takes?

;;;Can you send a list of the problems you found and your suggestions?
The editor does not work with IE 5.5 SP2 - SP2 must be applied to IE 5.5 it is one of the worst browsers.  If you say you support IE 5.5 it must run with SP2.  I have experience in this area, ask your legal people.  We also build proprietry software and have a great deal of experience in this area.

;;I am sorry for the troubles. If it' very urgent for you, we can send you a special version on next monday
This Monday or next Monday - It is very very urgent.  I will be looking for a new tool in the mean time.  We will loose this contract, it will cost our compamy allot of money.  These guys are our biggest client, you guys were about to get allot of licenses sold through us.

    Our objective was:
1..Get a text editor that had certain tools - we are only using:
    editor.Template="spell,Bold,Italic,Underline,justifyLeft,justifyCenter,justifyRight,justifyFull,justifyNone,InsertOrderedList,InsertunOrderedList,indent,outdent,removeFormat,ucase,lcase,forecolor,backColor,cut,copy,paste,pastText,pasteword,print,find,delete,undo,redo,insertDate,insertTime,help,linebreak,FontName,FontSize"
2.. It must have a spell checker with NO CLIENTSIDE dependencies what so ever
    3..Must run on a 2k server
4..Must run in a patched IE 5.5 environmet (this includes SP2)

This for a briefing systen for the Australian Defence Force.  The whole thing is built and ready for roll out.  I suggest you remove the statement regarding IE 5.5 from your web site.  It is not the case.

Re: Editor fails in IE 5.5 - Urgent request for Cutesoft Management contact

    Adam

I have had meetings with the Defence guys and our directors.  All of our correspondence was covered in the meetings.  The fact you refuse to give us contact details of your companies management has become a bit of a problem.  I will endeavor to contact them the hard way.  When a client requests contact it should be unquestionably given.

A real shame, you have otherwise been very helpful.  Perhaps you dont have a management structure, if this is the case just say so - I still want to use your product, it works like a dream on IE 6.0.   I have run the compatibility text on your web site (cutsoft.net/asp/) by our legal guys, you must specifically exclude SP2 in your page copy.

There are questions in my previous post you did not answer, why is this?  Do you expect a fix by this Monday (26th Sept) or next Monday (3rd Oct?)

Your product has the potential to be used across the entire Defence Restricted Network here in Australia.  This is the biggest network in the country and Microsoft’s biggest client in the southern hemisphere.  If the system we have built is successful it will be one of the best case studies your company could ever hope for.  At the moment all they know is it does not work.  Non technical people arnt interested in why, they just see it as a failure.

I will now have to spend my entire weekend looking for an alternative product, it will be implemented if I find something suitable.  A fix will be no use to use and we will be looking for a full refund.  I have already recommended your product in the forum I spend a massive a time in (p2p.wrox.com - the best ASP forum on line) I will continue to do so however I suggest you change your claim on your web site until you make it work. You are wide open at the moment.  You should change it to say 'has been tested on ....'  not is compatible with 5.5 +   There is a very very big difference.

Mate best of luck making this work, I hope you development team is successful.  You know what the funny thing is about your failure to give me a management contact.  If we start to be your biggest reseller, we will talk anyway.

    Adam

I have downloaded your version 4.2 you said the IE 5.5 SP2 thing was fixed, it is not.  There is no difference, the problem remains:

    client side error:
    Line 2
    Char 73466
Error 'undefined' is null or not an object

I am getting this error when I click on the Normal, HTML and preview buttons on the http://localhost/NavSysComNew/CuteEditor_Files/default.asp page as well as the pages where I have the editor.

I must speak to your management regarding the mis representation of your product and non conformance.  I have asked you several times, you refuse to give it.  Your editor fails in an environment you claim it works.

Very annoyed, you said in your email it was fixed, nothing has been done

Yes it does go in that location.  The reason I did not update you on the post yesturday was because of caching.  This network as I have explained before is the biggest and most secure in the southern hemisphere.  Along with that comes many many examples of uniqueness - page caching is one of them.  I was assured by the top IT guys this morning we would not experience any caching what so ever.

The fact the editor you directed me to works (could not test posting values to a page) regarding the HTML, preview and Normal buttons tells me there may be an instance of caching somewhere.  I will investigate in now.

Thank you for yopur promt reply

EDITED to advise anybody following this post.  People who intend to use this product in an IE 5.5 SP2 environment need to follow this post now :  http://cutesoft.net/forums/11064/ShowPost.aspx

The issue regarding the client side errors when the HTML, preview and Normal buttons are clicked has been resolved.  The failure of the editor to post values of any kind still remains a problem.  Frankly its a show stopper for me.  If any body knows of another product that has a spell checker with NO CLIENT side requirements (only need minimal text editing tools):
