We are evaluating your cutechat product and considering it as it is so far the only one that fits our need of .NET chat application with AJAX, but I'm unable to find client side APIs that allow the product to do some basic functionality without having to force the user to use the GUI. We need a client side API to directly popping up a chat window with a contact without having to present your GUI. Are there server side APIs for adding and deleting chat contacts?

You can check the Channel_New.js , NewMessenger.js and see what function they call.
