Could not get the cute editor instance

I added a custom button and use it to open a custom dialog box. I get an error "Name Editor1 not declared" error in the window where the dialog box should appear. The error message refers to this line:

// get the cute editor instance
var editor1 = document.getElementById('<%=Editor1.ClientID%>');

The code I'm using is almost the same as on http://cutesoft.net/forums/thread/17696.aspx

Any idea what's going on? Thanks in advance!

Many postings in the forum reference this line

var editor1 = document.getElementById('<%=Editor1.ClientID%>');

in the custom dialog box to get value from the editor.

But I can not get it to work. The dialog box gives me an error "Name Editor1 not declared".

Any idea?

Hi Adam,

Thanks for your reply.

I changed

var editor = document.getElementById('<%=Editor1.ClientID%>');

var editor=window.dialogArguments;

It seems to work fine now!

Does that mean"var editor = document.getElementById('<%=Editor1.ClientID%>');" will no longer work?

Alice,

To get the editor instance in the same page, please use:

var editor = document.getElementById('<%=Editor1.ClientID%>');

To get the editor instance in the dialog, please use:

var editor=window.dialogArguments;
