Requirements

These are the requirements for CuteChat 6.0. 5.x has its own, older requirements and is still available on the download page.

Current versions of each. The client uses a WebSocket connection where the browser and server allow one, and falls back to interval polling otherwise.

Frequently asked questions

Will my existing 5.x licence work?

No. 6.0 assemblies check for product version code 610406 and refuse a 5.x licence (510406) on purpose. Every licence has to be reissued before an upgraded site will start. A 6.0 licence is a paid upgrade — write to [email protected] about pricing.

Can I keep my existing database?

Yes. An existing 5.x database keeps its tables and runs the 6.0 upgrade scripts included in the package; rooms, accounts and message history carry over. A new install gets the full schema from the supplied SQL Server script.

Does it run on shared hosting?

Yes, provided the host runs IIS with .NET Framework 4.8 and you can reach a SQL Server instance. The application deploys by copying files; no Visual Studio project is required.

How scalable is it?

SQL Server is the storage engine for every deployment size. Full-text search over message history is optional and needs the SQL Server full-text feature installed.
