How to use the temporary file sharing
Send a file using a temporary link that permits one download from the server. Choose a non-empty file up to 500 MiB, select a retention period, and upload it. The result is a share link that you can copy and send to the intended recipient. Anyone with that link can retrieve the file, so treat the address as access to its contents.
The recipient can open the link and inspect the filename, size, and expiry without consuming it. Selecting Download once atomically claims the server copy before streaming starts. Competing requests cannot both retrieve the same file. An interrupted transfer still consumes the link; the sender must upload a new copy if the recipient needs another attempt. A saved local copy can, of course, be copied again.
Unused links stop working at the chosen expiry: fifteen minutes, one hour, or twenty-four hours after upload completes. A scheduled cleanup removes expired storage on its next one-minute sweep. Uploads are limited to five per client address per hour and 500 MiB per day, with a shared server storage cap. File sharing becomes unavailable if the cleanup heartbeat is stale.
Frequently asked questions
Is the file encrypted end to end?
No. HTTPS protects transport when you use the HTTPS website, but the server receives and temporarily stores the original file. This service does not provide client-side encryption, malware scanning, or a guarantee that uploaded content is safe to open.
Can a preview bot consume my link?
Simply loading the share page or reading its metadata does not claim the download. Retrieval requires the download action. Anyone or any program that possesses the link and performs that action can consume it before your intended recipient does.
Can I recover an expired file?
No recovery feature is provided. Keep your own original until the recipient confirms receipt. After a download claim or expiry, the public link is unavailable. Upload another copy to create a new independent link if sharing is still needed.
