How to use Image Privacy Mask
The image privacy mask helps you prepare screenshots and photographs for sharing. Select an image, then drag across each detail you want to hide. Cover account numbers, faces, addresses, licence plates, barcodes or any other visible information. Each rectangle is painted with an opaque color and becomes part of the downloaded PNG. Undo removes the most recent mask while you are still working. Clear removes the image and all current masks from this page.
Solid coverage is the default because blur and pixelation can leave enough information for someone to guess a name or number. This tool does not offer an automatic guarantee that every sensitive detail is hidden. Look closely at the entire photo, including reflections, small text, notifications and background objects. Cover a little beyond the edges of the original text. QR codes and barcodes should be covered completely.
The downloaded file is a newly rendered image, rather than a document with removable annotation layers. Original image metadata is not copied into the PNG export. The original file on your device is unchanged, so be careful to share the downloaded result rather than the source. This tool handles raster images only; it is not a PDF redaction tool and cannot remove hidden text from a PDF.
Images are processed locally in your browser. No photo is uploaded to a processing server. The interface accepts JPG, PNG and WebP files up to 20 MB and 40 megapixels. The working image is resized to a maximum edge of 2000 pixels to keep the editor responsive on everyday devices. The exported PNG uses that working resolution.
Use a mouse or touch to draw rectangles. Preview the result at a useful size before downloading. If the image is evidence or an important record, retain an untouched original separately. Save your edited result before closing the tab; the page does not provide permanent cloud storage.
