Read text aloud using a voice already available on your device. This free text-to-speech reader is useful for proofreading, practicing pronunciation, listening to a short passage, or checking how a sentence sounds. Paste text into the editor, choose a language and voice, and press Play. No account, subscription, or paid AI generation service is required by this tool.

Only voices that the browser identifies as local are listed. Remote voices are excluded, and the page never silently switches to an online voice when a local voice is missing. Available voices depend on your operating system, installed language packs, and browser. Some devices provide many choices; others may provide none. The page waits for voice-list updates and includes a refresh button if you install a voice while it is open.

Choose a voice that matches the language of your text. Changing the language filter narrows the list without translating the passage. Adjust speed to read more slowly or quickly, and adjust pitch to change the voice’s tone. Start near the default settings for the most natural result. The selected voice determines pronunciation and sound quality, so the same passage may sound different on another computer or phone.

Play starts from the beginning. Pause and Resume use the browser’s speech controls, which can behave differently across devices. Stop clears the current reading queue. Editing the text or changing a voice setting stops playback so the spoken content does not fall out of sync with the editor. Long text is split into short chunks, and the progress display counts completed chunks rather than claiming an exact time remaining.

The editor accepts up to ten thousand characters. Text is not uploaded or saved by this page, and leaving the page stops playback. Local voices may need to be installed before offline use; loading the website itself still requires a connection unless you have saved the single HTML file. This version plays through your device speakers and does not offer MP3 or WAV downloads. The browser speech interface does not provide a direct audio-file export feature.
