How this tool works
Calendar age uses completed years, then completed months, then remaining days. Month-end anniversaries are clamped to the last valid day: February 29 becomes February 28 in a non-leap year. Date-only arithmetic avoids daylight-saving shifts. The end date must not precede the birth date.
Is the age worked out in whole years, months and days?
Yes. The calculator counts complete calendar years first, then the remaining whole months, then the leftover days, which is how age is stated on forms and in law. It also shows the total number of days elapsed, which is the figure you want for medical dosing charts or record keeping.
How are leap years and 29 February birthdays handled?
Leap days are counted as real days, so the total-days figure is always exact. For a 29 February birthday in a non-leap year the next birthday is treated as 1 March, which is the common civil convention; if your jurisdiction uses 28 February, subtract a day.
Can I calculate an age on a past or future date?
Yes. Change the “age at” date to any date you like to see how old someone was at an event, or how old they will be on a chosen day. Both dates are read in your own time zone.
