How this tool works

Elapsed days exclude the start date: Monday to Tuesday is one day. Including both dates makes it two. The calendar interval always measures elapsed time, independent of the inclusive option. End date must be on or after start date. These are calendar days, including weekends and holidays, calculated without daylight-saving effects.

Does the result include the start and end day?

The difference is measured between the two dates, so a span from Monday to Friday is four days. If you are counting days of attendance or billing where both ends count, add one to the result.

Why do the years-months-days and total-days answers look inconsistent?

They answer different questions. Calendar months vary between 28 and 31 days, so “1 month and 3 days” covers a different number of days depending on where it falls. The total-days figure is the exact count and is the one to use in arithmetic.

Are weekends and public holidays excluded?

No, this counts every calendar day. For working days only, use the business days calculator, which skips weekends and lets you exclude holidays.
